A unit for recognizing a snapped belt fits next to a motor and recognizes when a belt flirts off. This unit experiences pressure exertion if the motor is distorted by torque whenever a belt flirts off. A pressing element sticks out from the motor's external periphery and presses onto the unit for recognizing a snapped belt if a belt flirts off. An independent claim is also included for a method for recognizing when a belt flirts off in a drier with a drying drum.
