A projection type display device is provided to reduce noise and vibration generated at a color wheel housing and a color wheel holder by making an air layer positioned at a noise damping unit and a fast turbulent flow smoothly mixed to thus change an impact noise and vibration energy into moving energy. A color wheel receiving body(168) receives a color wheel(150). A noise damping unit(200) is provided on an inner surface of the color wheel receiving body and changes an air flow generated according to rotation of the color wheel(150) to thus damp noise. A color wheel housing(170) houses the color wheel. A color wheel holder(180) is combined with the color wheel housing to cover the color wheel housing, and allows the color wheel to be rotatably installed therein. The noise damping unit is formed in a concavo-convex form on an inner surface of the color filter housing or on an inner surface of the color wheel holder.
