<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass material composition substance for protecting an optical semiconductor element that can seal the optical semiconductor element at a low temperature, and can exhibit excellent thermal resistance and light stability, and an optical semiconductor device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The glass material composition substance for protecting an optical semiconductor element is used to seal and protect the optical semiconductor element which is mainly composed of a glass material and contains silicon resin as a binder constituent.
