<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a split mode, a split tone color, and a split point, even without providing a split switch. <P>SOLUTION: When a tone color button 31 is turned on (step 101), a tone number data TN (tone color information) selected by the tone color button 31 is written in an upper/first register 18 (step 102). When another tone color button 31 is turned on at the same time (step 103), the tone number data TN selected by the tone color button 31 is written in a lower/second register 19 (step 104). When any key 11s of a keyboard 11 is turned on at the same time (step 105), a key number data KN (pitch information) of the key which is turned on, is written in a split point register 20 (step 106).
