PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration absorbing device with a shock absorber whose piston rod is joined to a vehicle body, and which comprises rubber members improved in durability against large displacement to a bound side or to a rebound side. SOLUTION: The vibration absorbing device comprises: the pair of rubber members 18, 20 arranged on the upper and lower sides of a body side member 16; and an upper and lower retainer plates 22, 24 for axially clamping the lower side rubber member 18. The retainer plates are curved into a sectional mountain shape in the direction of axially approaching their peripheral edges 22a, 24a each other. An outer peripheral face 18c of the lower side rubber member consists of: a recessed portion 38 depressed in the axial center into a curved shape; and upper and lower mountain portions 40 swollen on both sides into a curved shape. A bottom 38a of the recessed portion is located on an axially perpendicular inside Y1 of a line M connecting peaks 22b, 24b of the peripheral edges of the retainer plates during the maximum load on the rebound side, and it is located on an axially perpendicular outside Y2 of the line M in the maximum load on the bound side.
