PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit breaker capable of unifying the size of a distribution panel regardless of necessity or non-necessity of a current limiter, capable of reducing constraint relating to installation space of the distribution panel and reducing development cost, manufacturing cost, inventory control cost, or the like, capable of protecting wiring from excess current, and capable of controlling load current according to a contract current defined between an electric power company and a user. SOLUTION: The circuit breaker is provided with a first and second current transformers (CT) 105, 106 which are installed respectively in electric paths 11, 12 of a plurality of phases and detect the size of load current, a switch mechanisms 103 to open and close the electric paths, a tripping means 104 which acts on the switch mechanism and carries out tripping operation when a prescribed current flows in the electric path, a trip coil (TC) 109 which operates by receiving a prescribed operating signal, and an operation control part 108 which carries out a prescribed time-limit characteristic control by comparing the size of the load current with a predetermined established current value.
