PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wide angle imaging lens for achieving ultra-wide angle suitable for monitoring use and on-board use being compact and lightweight while maintaining excellent optical performance, an image pickup apparatus obtaining an imaging signal of high resolution by mounting the wide angle imaging lens, and a camera module thereof. SOLUTION: The wide angle imaging lens includes a first group G1 having positive refractive force, an aperture diaphragm St, and a second group G2 having positive refractive force in order from an object side. The first group G1 is composed of a first lens L1 being a negative meniscus lens directing a projection face in the object side, a second negative lens L2 in which the face of an image side is a recess shape and a third positive lens L3 in which the face of the image side is a projection shape in the image side in the order from the object side. The second group G2 is composed of a fourth positive lens L4 in which the face of the image side is a projection shape in the image side, a fifth negative both-recessed lens L5, and a sixth positive both-projected lens L6 in the order from the object side.
