摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer having a configuration capable of improving detection accuracy in an optical sensor and of improving throughput. SOLUTION: The optical sensor 100 is provided with a pair of cylindrical parts 140 covering a light emitting part 151 and a light receiving part 152, respectively and formed of resin capable of transmitting light; a base part 130 provided integrally with the cylindrical parts 140; and slit members 160 arranged inside the cylindrical parts 140, covering the light emitting part 151 or the light receiving part 152 while shielding light by wall faces 161 and having slits 162 to transmit light. The width dimension of the slit 162 is set such that a difference of a distance from a reference position exceeding a threshold value is below 0.03 mm, when a plurality of types of printing targets P are sent along the carrying direction, provided that sensor sensitivity which is a ratio of an electric current input to the light emitting part 151 and an electric current output from the light receiving part 152 is 28% and that a threshold value of output voltage is 2.4 V.
