PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust ventilation hole assembly suitable for joint use with a respiration mask for use in CPAP treatment. SOLUTION: In one embodiment, the ventilation hole is made of a thin air-permeable membrane. Generally the membrane is thinner than 0.5 mm. The membrane can be made of hydrophobic material such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). The membrane can be also made of drawn PTFE. The drawn PTFE membrane is fitted to a polypropylene scrim. The standard aperture size of the aperture of the membrane is 10 to 15μm. In an alternative embodiment, the ventilation hole assembly includes a ventilation hole formed of stainless steel. In another embodiment, the sectional area of the membrane is about 500 mm<SP>2</SP>. In another embodiment, the ventilation hole assembly includes a membrane fitted to a ventilation hole frame, and the ventilation hole assembly forms an insert for removably fitting a mask frame.
