Circular accelerator (2) comprises a high voltage current supply (4) with switching elements for applying a pulsed voltage to an electron generator (1). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Generator for electromagnetic waves comprising the above accelerator; and (2) Imaging system comprising the generator, a measuring unit and a data processing unit. Preferred Features: Electrons produced by applying the pulsed voltage to the electron generator are injected into the accelerator. An electron accelerating unit accelerates the electrons by induction acceleration.
