The mechanism has a lamella arrangement (18) arranged opposite to another lamella arrangement (20). A clamping unit (28) is rotatable around a clamp bolt (26) crossing the arrangements, where the clamping unit combines with another clamping unit (34). The latter clamping unit combining with the former rotatable clamping unit is held guided to the former lamella arrangement, where the former lamella arrangement is assigned to a column pipe (12) of a steering shaft by cam-locks (36, 38, 40, 42). The former lamella arrangement is encompassed laterally by the cam-locks of the latter clamping unit.
