An energy saving type bed is provided to enable a user to read a book or work easily without getting out of the bed. An energy saving type bed having a book rest includes: a head plate; a supporting pole(11) fixed on one side of the head plate; a rotation pole(12) established rotatably on the supporting pole; a supporting plate fixing base(13) one end of which is established on an upper end of the rotation pole and the other end of which is combined with a supporting plate(14); and supporting bases(15,16) fixed through hinge on both ends of the supporting plate additionally.
