<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the display or the backlight of a display portion of a portable terminal from being turned off unexpectedly, while its user views the display portion of the portable terminal. <P>SOLUTION: The portable terminal distinguishes whether or not the user holds a portable terminal 10 from a touch detection result obtained by a touch sensor 15, changes the display of a display portion 13 into an on-state when it is detected that the user holds the terminal, acquires a value measured by its luminance sensor 16 provided in the portable terminal 10 after the display of the display portion 13 is turned on, and turns its backlight 14 on if the measured brightness is darker than a predetermined one. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
