PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly realize a required connected state by accurately detecting the N-Idle oil pressure of a starting clutch in the neutral control. SOLUTION: A transmission controller 12 judges whether a vehicle is in a stopped state and further whether neutral control executing conditions including at least the select lever of a CVT1 positioned in a running range are established or not. When it is judged that the neutral control executing conditions are established, the idling speed control (ISC) of an engine 5 is stopped, and the inlet air quantity just before the stop of the ISC is kept. Then, the oil pressure Pc of the starting clutch is reduced until the increasing rate of the engine speed due to the reduction of the oil pressure Pc of the starting clutch becomes smaller than a required value. When the increasing rate of the engine speed has become smaller than the required value, the oil pressure Pc of the starting clutch at that time is kept as the N-Idle oil pressure, and further the ISC of the engine 5 is started again.
