<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus in which wear of the surface of each photoreceptor due to friction of the photoreceptor and a corresponding charging means is reduced and a reduction in the size of the entire apparatus and the longer life of each image forming means are achieved. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes the plurality of image forming means. The image forming means have photoreceptors that are rotated, and the charging means arranged to abut against or remain detached from the corresponding photoreceptors, and form images of different colors. Each charging means includes a corona charging mechanism that corona-discharges at least one of the photoreceptors, and a non-abutting charging mechanism that remains detached from at least another one of the photoreceptors. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
