PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor capable of performing compression/decompression of image data to utilize a limited storage capacity effectively, when the image data are accumulated at a storage device arranged at the image processor, and to provide an image processing method and an image processing program. SOLUTION: An image processor 100 comprises an image input means 31 and an image output means 33 for performing input and output of image data, an image processing means 32 for performing image processing, an image data control means 35 for controlling the image data, and an image data storage means 36 for storing the image data. The image input means 31, the image output means 33, the image processing means 32, and the image data control means 35 are connected to an image data transmission path 11, while the image data storage means 36 is connected to the image data transmission path 11 through the image data control means 35. It is characterized in that the image data control means 35 having an image data compression/decompression means 351 for performing compression/decompression of the image data performs compression or decompression of the image data, when the image data control means 35 transmits the image data to the image data storage means 36 or when the image data control means 35 receives the image data stored at the image data storage means 36.
