<p>The method involves plotting temporal distribution of a voltage signal in a range of lambda value of 1 indicated by a lambda sensor until two inflection points of the voltage signal is detected. Temporal deflection of the voltage signal is formed, and hops of the temporal deflection occurring at the inflection points are compared with each other. A verification of the indicated lambda value of 1 is carried out based on the comparison of the hops. An independent claim is also included for a method for correcting a lambda value indicated by a binary lambda sensor.</p>
