The tie rod, especially at a ship's diesel motor, has at least one tubular sealing cuff (22). The seal is secured to at least one section of the tie rod (17) in a positive fit, or vulcanized to it, or shrunk on to it, or bonded by an adhesive. There is a sealing zone (24) with projections (27) at an end (23) away from the thread and a sealing zone (26) at an end (25) near the thread, forming a limit stop to define the tie rod depth.
