<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing system, a medium processor and a device recognition method, capable of more certainly preventing erroneous acquisition when a host side grasps a serial number of a related USB device, and allowing reduction of a development load or a load of host management. <P>SOLUTION: This information processing system 1 has: the host 10; and a card printer 11 and a card issuing machine 12 connected to the host 10, and each recognized as the independent device. At least one device A of the devices has a storage means storing peculiar information for identifying the other device B. The host 10 has a signal processing circuit 102 individually controlling the device A and the device B.
