<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that the combustor misfires due to an unstable combustion state of the combustor when starting the combustion after a long time stoppage. <P>SOLUTION: The hydrogen generating apparatus 1 comprises a desulfurizer 4 which has a desulfurization agent and can adsorb and remove the sulfur compound contained in a raw material, a reformer which has a reforming catalyst and can generate a hydrogen-containing gas from the raw material that has been passed the desulfurizer 4, a combustor 5 which can heat the reformer, an igniter 53 which can ignite the combustor 5, and a regulator 8, wherein during the starting operation the combustion of the combustor 5 is started using the raw material that has been passed the desulfurizer 4, and the regulator 8 lengthens the time necessary for the ignition operation of the igniter 53 during the starting operation according to the stoppage time during the stoppage period of time of the apparatus or according to the pressure drop in the flow passage including the desulfurizer 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
