<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink for ink-jet recording having improved foaming and excellent jetting stability and to provide an ink cartridge, an ink-jet recording apparatus and a method for ink-jet recording. <P>SOLUTION: The ink comprises at least a pigment, water, a compound represented by general formula (1) (wherein, R1 represents a 1-20C alkyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group; l represents an integer of 0-7; and n represents an integer of 20-200), a polyether-modified silicone compound and a polyol compound (having 0.2-4.5 mass% solubility in water at 20°C) as composition components.
