<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct liquid type writing utensil in which ink hardly remains in an ink tank internal wall between ribs when the direct liquid type writing utensil is placed under a pen nib facing upward state or a pen nib facing downward state, and the ink remaining amount in the ink tank can easily visually be checked from outside. <P>SOLUTION: This direct liquid type writing utensil 1 directly houses the ink in the ink tank 8 which consists of a transparent or semi-transparent material. A plurality of ribs 81 which extend in the axial direction are formed by projecting them from the internal wall of the ink tank 8, and the direct liquid type writing utensil 1 is constituted in such a manner that the ink in the ink tank 8 is visible from outside. A capillary groove 82 which extends in the axial direction is formed at the connected corner section between each rib 81 and the internal wall of the ink tank 8.
