PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanner device capable of promptly adjusting sensitivity of a light receiving element. SOLUTION: The scanner device scans a predetermined scan object to generate image data, and has: an image sensor 20 which converts an optical image of the scan object into corresponding image data; a transfer means (DC motor 26, DC motor control part 513) for transferring a carriage having the image sensor in the vertical scanning direction; a white reference member 29 for compensating the sensitivity of the image sensor; and a control means (CPU 501) for controlling the image sensor and the transfer means to optically read the scan object or the white reference member, wherein the control means controls so that the scan object or the white reference member is read in at least either of the case of accelerating the carriage or the case of decelerating the carriage by the transfer means.
