To permit low-cost production of a mould pin (2) which is of high quality and which can be adapted to a very wide variety of requirements, a modular structure of the mould pin (2) is provided, where at least two of the following parts: head (4), shaft (6) or pin end (8) have been formed as independent module parts which have been securely mechanically joined together with the aid of a joining process. By virtue of the modular structure, very high flexibility is provided and the mould pin can be adapted in the manner of a kit system to the respective requirements. The mould pin (2) is in particular an ejector pin, a cutting punch, a core, a shut-off needle for a hot-runner nozzle or a guide pillar for a mould.
