HANDOVER METHOD IN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A handover method in a communication system is provided to determine handover by using a new variable such as distribution of average receiving signal quality accumulative values, thereby minimizing generation of ping-pong effect. Instance signal quality of signals received from a serving base station which provides a service to an MS(Mobile Station) and peripheral base stations is measured(202). The instance signal quality is accumulated for certain time according to each base station to determine average receiving signal quality(204). Distributive values of the average receiving signal quality are determined. It is decided whether a result value of a handover formula including the distributive values of the average receiving signal quality is smaller than 0. If so, it is decided to hand over to a base station having a minimum result value of the handover formula(222).
