PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of discarding a document inside on the assumption that the image forming apparatus does not have a document reader and is compact.

SOLUTION: A document discarding means (a cutting roller 16 and a refuse storage container 17) of the image forming apparatus is installed nearby an image forming means, and the detachable refuse storage container 17 which constitutes the document discarding means is provided to be loaded at a loading position of a transfer material cassette 8 constituting a paper feeding means. Therefore, the compact image forming apparatus which does not have the document reader can discard a document inside.
