PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a threatening effect by threatening light in an illumination system. SOLUTION: The illumination system 1 is provided with a plurality of illumination implements 2 having a heat ray sensor 21 and a lamp 22 for emitting the threatening light on the basis of the detection signal of a suspicious person S by the heat ray sensor 21. The lamp 22 irradiates an area including the detection range of the heat ray sensor 21 with the threatening light. Each of the plurality of illumination implements 2 is arranged in an area not to be irradiated with the threatening light by the other illumination implements 2. Thus, since the illumination implement 2 is not irradiated with the threatening light from the other illumination implements 2 and the vicinity is not brightly illuminated with the threatening light, it is made difficult for the suspicious person S to immediately recognize whether or not a security guard or the like operating the illumination implement 2 is present near it. Thus, the suspicious person S can be made to think that the threatening light is by an operation by the security guard or the like and the threatening effect by the threatening light is improved.
