PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a band saw cutting device which efficiently disassembles a large object to be cut such as a generator stator having a part embedded in concrete, and also to provide a cutting method using the band saw cutting device. SOLUTION: According to the cutting method, the generator stator 200 is horizontally cut into almost half pieces by a band saw blade 32 in a horizontal cutting position, and cutting units 34, 36 are rotated 90 degrees about a pin 15 of a pin structure, as a base point to change their position into a vertically cutting position. Thereafter the cutting units 34, 36 are lowered by a saw blade moving motors 26, 26 to cut the generator stator 200 in the vertical direction. After completion of first cutting operation, a driving block 12 and a driven block 14 are horizontally shifted by a distance corresponding to a cut length, and the cutting operation is started again.
