PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate memory access from an external device and to prevent image information from being tampered. SOLUTION: When a recording trigger switch 5 is operated, one image output from a camera signal processing circuit 17 at that time is written in a semiconductor memory 12, further data-compressed by a data compression circuit 21 and stored in a semiconductor memory 13. At this point, on the assumption that a non-illustrated external device is connected to a connector 14, even when the external device instructs to capture an image in the semiconductor memory 13, while the semiconductor memory 13 is under image writing, a status detection circuit 23 detects such a status and inhibits capturing to the external device. Moreover, while capturing an image in the semiconductor device 13 into the external device, the status detection circuit 23 detects such a status and even when the recording trigger switch 5 is operated, an AND gate 6 is turned off, thereby inhibiting image writing into the semiconductor memory 13.
