PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation image forming system reading radiation image information recorded on a radiation conversion panel efficiently without any difficulty. SOLUTION: When a cassette 24 is loaded in a reader 26 or a cassette detection sensor 44 or panel detection sensors 58a to 58d detect that a storage type phosphor panel P is housed in the reader 26, an X-ray source controller 22 inhibits the radiation of X-rays by an X-ray source 16, thereby avoiding the occurrence of fogging on the storage type phosphor panel P.
