A wetness indicator composition which comprises: 0.1-5 wt.% pH indicator (a) which is substantially colorless at a pH of 7 and assumes a color in an acidic region; 20-90 wt.% surfactant (b); 5-55 wt.% polyalkylene glycol (c); 0-70 wt.% carboxylated polymer (d); and 0.1-5 wt.% acidic substance (e) other than the ingredients (b) and (d). In an absorbing article comprising a front sheet (2), a back sheet (3), and an absorbent (4) interposed between the sheets (2) and (3) and having, applied thereto, a hot-melt composition which changes in color upon contact with a body fluid, the wetness indicator composition is used as the hot-melt composition.
