A fuel system for a vehicle, in particular an aircraft, is disclosed. The fuel system comprises a fuel tank 312'' and a fuel reformer 304'' for receiving fuel from the fuel tank. The system includes a hydrogen fuel cell array 306'' for receiving hydrogen from the fuel reformer. The system further includes mechanism for providing an inerting gas from the fuel system to the fuel tank. This mechanism may be arranged to feedback inert exhaust gases, typically carbon dioxide, from either the reformer or hydrogen fuel cell or from both (shown in figure). Exhaust gases are passed through a conditioning system 308'' to remove impurities, such as water, prior to entering the ullage of the fuel tank. The fuel cells are used to provide power to the components of the vehicle. |
