The device (17) has a retainer (18) placed in a fixed direction relative to the panorama X-ray imaging machine. A positioner (19) i.e. bite block, is connected to the machine. The retainer includes a longitudinal guide (20) for the positioner to enable vertical adjustment of the positioner relative to the retainer. A socket (21) is adapted for an attachment to a carrier of the machine, and the guide is set at an axial distance from the socket. Detents are provided in the positioner to enable arrestment in the guide at predefined standard levels corresponding to a normal jaw.
