A manual/automatic-mode converting apparatus for an electric vehicle is provided to reduce load applied to a motor when a steering wheel is operated in a manual mode by coupling an output gear, which is interlocked with the motor, to an output shaft such that the output gear is independently rotated. A manual/automatic-mode converting apparatus for an electric vehicle comprises an output shaft(100), a clutch(200) coupled around the output shaft, an output gear(300) coupled around the output shaft, an input shaft(400), which is installed an upper side of the output shaft to be independently rotated from the output shaft, and a stopper(251) installed on the shift shaft. The clutch is restricted at an end of a shift shaft(250) such that the clutch moves up/down by a rotation of the shift shaft. A connection part(310) for a clutch-lower part is formed at an upper part of the output gear. A connection part(410) for a clutch-upper part is formed at a lower part of the input gear.
