Positioning system with magnetically preloaded linear axis

The surface positioning system has a linear guide (105) attached to a carrier arm (104) and running along an x-axis. A retaining unit (106) is adjustably supported at the linear guide along the x axis and is formed in such a manner that an equipment head (107) is attachable at the retaining unit. A linear motor is coupled with the carrier arm and the retaining unit such that the retaining unit is displaceable along x axis with appropriate control of the linear motor. An independent claim is also included for a device for moving an equipment head of element carrier.
