<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter in a multiplexing three-phase pulse width modulation cyclo-converter system for driving a high-voltage AC motor generating a high voltage with low distortion by using a low-voltage inverter technique, and to provide a power conversion method. <P>SOLUTION: The power converter uses a serial multiplexing three-phase PWM cyclo-converter composed by serially connecting single-phase output PWM cyclo-converters (1-9). When any one of the cyclo-converters is broken down, a part between single-phase AC terminals of the broken cyclo-converter is short-circuited. The cyclo-converters in other two phases located at the same position on the serial connection as that of the broken cyclo-converter are operated while successively making three sets of two-way switches, which are respectively composed of each two bidirectional switches connected for each phase of three-phase power supply input terminals (r, s, and t), conductive at equal time intervals. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
