<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine with a supercharger capable of suitably suppressing the defective driving of a nozzle vane irrespective of its operating conditions in the internal combustion engine with the variable nozzle vane type supercharger. <P>SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine performs a low temperature combustion and, when the nozzle vane of the variable nozzle vane type turbocharger is driven, samples a current value of Im flowing through an electric motor driving the nozzle vane. The engine calculates a time IT in which the sampled current value Im was an over-current of a specified value α or higher and, when the over-current time IT is above a specified time β, performs a burn-out operation for a specified time. Thus, the amount of deposit accumulated on a variable nozzle part is reduced to suppress the defective driving of the nozzle vane. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
