A method for setting up timer recording by using a GUI and an apparatus thereof are provided to enable a user to check input information easily while setting a time for starting to record and a timer recording section by using the GUI and input correct information through the GUI. A method for setting up timer recording by using a GUI(Graphical User Interface) comprises the following steps of: receiving a timer recording request signal outputted from an input device(200)(S101); generating at least one of a calendar image or a time display image in response to the received timer recording request signal and outputting the generated image to a display device(300)(S107); receiving a date selection signal from the input device; receiving information about a timer recording time on a date selected on the basis of the received date selection signal(S201,S203); and changing at least one of the calendar image or the time display image on the basis of the received timer recording time information(S205,S209).
