A lead-free borosilicate glass frit for forming an insulating layer is provided to prevent environmental pollution, have excellent water resistance, and form no crack on an insulating layer after firing. A lead-free borosilicate glass frit for forming an insulating layer comprises 16-30mol% of SiO2, 1-8mol% of Al2O3, 20-32mol% of B2O3, 8-14mol% of at least two selected from Li2O+Na2O+K2O(in the proviso that Li2O is contained in an amount of 0.1mol% or more), 1-10mol% of at least one selected from MgO+CaO+SrO+BaO, 22-35mol% of ZnO, 0.005-0.1mol% of CuO, 0.01-1mol% of SnO2, 0.01-1mol% of CeO2, and 0.1-2.0mol% of Gd2O3. A white insulating layer is hard to turn yellow. The insulating layer is formed by the steps of: preparing a glass paste containing the glass frit and at least one inorganic oxide of Al2O3, SiO2, ZrO, and ZnO; coating a silver electrode with the glass paste; and firing the coated electrode. |
