CARBONATE BUILT LAUNDRY DETERGENT CONTAINING A CARBOXYLIC POLYMER AS AN ANTIENCRUSTATION AGENT

A laundry detergent composition in which the solids content comprises an active surfactant, at least about 60 wt.% based on the weight of the solids of a soluble alkaline carbonate builder, and a minor amount of a carboxylic polymer which is a copolymer of about 70 to about 95 wt.% of acrylic acid and about to about 30 wt.% of maleic acid based on the weight of the polymer, such copolymer having a number average molecular weight of about 1500 to about 2500. Preferably the composition also contains a minor amount of a protease enzyme.
