The method involves emitting ultrasound towards the axis of the shaft and receiving a set of echoes by a transducer, which results in emission of ultrasound. A sensor device is provided, which has a probe at the end of shaft. The transducer is mounted on a movable form and provides rotation in the interior of the sensor device using a motor inside the sensor device. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for inspecting axis of railway transport material.
