A method of pretreating Gracilaria verrucosa by washing with seawater in clean seas situated 1km from the coast, heating and salting the washed Gracilaria verrucosa and blanching the salted Gracilaria verrucosa is provided to minimize the destruction of nutrients and to prevent the lowering characteristic taste and freshness of Gracilaria verrucosa. Gracilaria verrucosa(1) is put into a washing container(2). Seawater(3) is poured thereinto with a seawater injection pump(9) and then washed to remove impurities. The washed Gracilaria verrucosa is put into a stainless steel heating container(4) with a thermometer(5) and a salinometer(6), heated with a gas burner(7) and cooled with seawater in a cooling container(8). The cooled Gracilaria verrucosa is mechanically sorted with a mechanical sorter to remove impurities, salted with salt(11) in a salting container(12) with the salinometer, blanched at room temperature for 24hr, manually resorted and then cut. The washing and cooling process, washing water and cooling water uses seawater at 20m below mean sea level, situated 1km from the coast. |
