A method for manufacturing a lightweight aggregate material is provided to allow the recycling of waste paper ash, and to obtain an aggregate material with a lightweight, having excellent soundproofing and adiabatic effects. A method for manufacturing a lightweight aggregate material comprises mixing 60-70 wt% of quartz sands, 8-15 wt% of paper ash, 13-18 wt% of alumina(Al2O3), 2-6 wt% of iron oxide(Fe2O3) and 2 wt% of calcium oxide(CaO), and firing the mixture at a temperature of 1,000-1,100 deg.C for 15-17 minutes to be swollen. The lightweight aggregate material thus obtained has a compressive strength of 300 kg/ cm^2, a thermal conductivity of 0.7%, an absorptivity of 17% or less, a specific gravity of 0.4-1.1 and a density of 1.5 or less.
