The invention relates to a process for preparing low molecular weight (co)polymers of unsaturated acids or the salts thereof to be used as scale inhibitors in the industrial processes of oil production or in the heating/cooling circuits, as additives, in detergent compositions or as dispersing agents. According to the invention, the process consists in subjecting a composition to a polymerization process in an aqueous medium, under a microwave field, at a frequency of 2450 MHz and a microwave power density level of 50...250 W/kg composition, preferably 100...150 W/kg, the said composition comprising: a) 10...35%, and preferably 20...25% monomers of the unsaturated acid type or hydrosoluble salts thereof, or mixtures of 20...90%, preferably 35...80% monomers of the unsaturated acid type or hydrosoluble salts thereof, with 8...10%, preferably 65...20%, one or more comonomers selected from hydrosoluble comonomers; b) 10...40%, preferably 15...30% formic acid or hydrosoluble salts thereof; c) 0.2...5%, preferably 0.2...3% primer of the inorganic peroxide type, the percentage being expressed by weight and related to the total monomer amount.
|
