A roll cover device minimizing surplus stroke of a Z axis slide is provided to allow chips attached in a roll cover to be effectively fallen due to self weight by including a saddle, a roll cover unit and a damping unit. A roll cover device minimizing surplus stroke of a Z axis slide(16) comprises a saddle(12), a roll cover unit(100) and a damping unit(200). The roll cover unit is installed in a lower portion of the saddle and blocks foreign matters such as cut chips and others intruded to a front surface of the saddle. The damping unit performs damping function when the roll cover unit is deviated above maximal stroke by the Z axis slide.
