PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel designed so that the degree of freedom in assembly is improved, and to provide optical equipment. SOLUTION: The lens barrel 2 comprises: a housing 50 that holds an optical system including a lens L2 and a prism P; a prim holder 70 disposed in the housing 50 and holding the prism P; and an opening 72 made in the area on the reflecting face side of the prism P in the prism holder 70 and allowing the passage of at least the prism P or lens L.
