PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display technique capable of suppressing the occurrence of a flicker and an image persistence in a liquid crystal panel driven by switching a static image mode and an animation mode. SOLUTION: The projector 10 drives a liquid crystal panel 20 by switching the static image mode of holding the charges accumulated in a pixel electrode 222 by the frame scanning of the previous time until the frame scanning of the next time, and the animation mode of changing the charge to a dark color level before the frame scanning of the next time.
