PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vacuum cleaner which keeps the dust cleaned off the second dust separation means from getting on the second dust separation means again. SOLUTION: The electric vacuum cleaner is provided with an electric fan 24, the first dust separation means 55 and a pleat filter body 100 and has a dust removal mode of removing fine dust stuck on a pleat filter 104. It is also provided with an outside air guide inlet 84F which gets the outside air guided in blown against the pleat filter 104 to remove the fine dust stuck, a return air path 2511 for returning the fine dust back to the upstream side of the first dust separation means 55 and a bypass air path 2500 which makes the outside air returned to the upstream side of the first dust separation means 55 sucked into a suction opening 24A of the electric fan 24. In the cleaning mode, the return air path 2511, the bypass air path 2500 and the outside air guide inlet 84F are closed and in the dust removal mode, the return air path 2511, the bypass air path 2500 and the outside air guide inlet 84F are opened, thereby altering the driving force and the driving time of the electric fan 24 according to the clogging condition of the pleat filter 104.
