PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic endoscope apparatus capable of miniaturizing the diameter of an insertion section without increasing the number of signal lines inside an endoscope section even if the distal end of the endoscope section is mounted with a zoom mechanism, a focus mechanism, a variable aperture mechanism and the like of an objective optical system. SOLUTION: A control signal is transmitted from a processor section 2 to the endoscope section 1 in a vertical blanking interval while an image signal acquired in a CCD image signal processing circuit 18 via CCD 16 is transmitted from the endoscope section to the processor section 2 via a signal line 24.
