A person information detection device for detecting passage information on a person passing a target monitoring area by using a camera (10) placed at the upper part of the area. The device performs image processing for detecting individual persons appearing in the center of the area imaged by the camera (10) by using images of the persons. Then, the device performs image processing for detecting the faces of persons in the periphery of the center of the area imaged by the camera (10) by using images of the persons. After that, the device detects each person's information associated with a detected face and an advance route of the person, and such information is detected as passage information together with the number of passages of the person and a face image of the person.
